JOHN Peacock has retired as chairman of the Kingsbridge Royal British Legion branch, handing over to Leon Lock.

Dave Bardwell, treasurer, said: ‘John Peacock has retired from chairman after years of dedication and commitment, and as Poppy Appeal Organiser for many years he took the Poppy Appeal total from about £9,000 to about £20,000.’

As one of his early official tasks, Leon presented the John Chilton Memorial Rosebowl to Emma Peacock for her ‘hard work’ as retiring secretary.

Dave continued: ‘We wish them well and are delighted their experience will still be available to the committee.’

The Kingsbridge RBL will be taking part in the Remembrance Service on Sunday, November 13, at the war memorial on the Promenade.
