A GP is among those launching a new venture to create a health and social care support network for local people.
Dr James Mottram, GP at Norton Brook Medical Centre and trustee of the venture, said: “With health and social care becoming increasingly fragmented, we need communities to come together to enhance the resilience of Kingsbridge and the surrounding area.
“We are planning to do that through local groups and individuals who can provide support and activities to improve well-being and to complement traditional medical care.
“This is an exciting new social interaction venture that will support the work of organisations already carrying out crucial work in the area but will help connect them to people who would benefit from their help.”
Six trustees have come together to create a support network to benefit people living in the area.
A stakeholders’ meeting is being held at The Crabshell Inn, Kingsbridge, from 6.30pm on Friday, April 20. This will involve an informal meal and discussion with the trustees to introduce the venture and to gain full and varied input before the official launch.
The not-for-profit venture, yet to be named, but already recruiting a co-ordinator and looking for potential premises, has contacted the main local exercise, community and support groups, organisations and individuals but would like to open the pre-launch meeting out to others who think they could make a positive contribution.
Please contact Dr James Mottram at [email protected] if you would like to attend.
