HALWELL and Moreleigh WI unveiled their Queen’s Portrait at their Christmas party.

The portrait, created to look like a stamp made out of buttons, beads, shells from the South Hams, and pieces of old or unwanted jewellery, was unveiled on Wednesday, December 14, to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The team who worked on the portrait were Judy Oldroyd, Pam Spittle, Jan Finch, Marcia Vojtisek, Barbara Parton, Carole Hanslip, Janet Foster, Lizzie Wyatt, Alice Blount and Judy Lovick.

The chairman of the Parish Hall Committee, Pip Hallett, unveiled the picture, and Judy Lovick, president of Halwell and Moreleigh WI, thanked all the ladies who had helped with the project either by donating buttons and beads or spending time actually putting the picture together.

She also thanked Martin Luckhurst from KCC for framing the picture for the group.
