KINGSBRIDGE Food Bank will be moving to Horizons on Fore Street from Friday, January 1, 2016.

In November, it was announced that the Family Advice Support Team, a local community interest company would be taking over the Horizons youth centre and breathing new life into the building.

James Highet, managing director of the Family Advice Support Team said: ‘We have had numerous discussions with the food bank over the past few weeks, exploring the viability of hosting the weekly distribution of emergency supplies to those in crisis and we strongly believe that the alliance will further extend the reach of services to vulnerable members in the community.

‘It is hoped that by operating during the week, users of this invaluable community resource will also be able to tap into the raft of other services available through the Family Advice Support Team.

‘FAST wish to thank everyone who have supported our new venture within the town and wish you all a very merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you when our doors open in the New Year.’

Roger Tyler from the food bank said: ‘We’d like to thank everyone who has been so generous this year, especially over the Christmas period. We look forward to moving to a new location for 2016.’

Up until recently, the food bank have operated their distribution sessions from the Age Concern building next to Quay House on Saturday mornings - the last session there was on Saturday, December 19. The change of location will also mean there will be a change to the distribution schedule.

From New Year's Day, sessions will be held each and every Friday between 10am and 12pm at Horizons, 110 Fore Street, Kingsbridge.
