MALBOROUGH with South Huish Primary School have been awarded a Gold Award from the RE Quality Mark.

The RE Quality Mark recognises ‘high quality Religious Education, particularly those schools which are providing their learners with authentic experiences and contributing to whole school outcomes’.

Malborough with South Huish school are one of only three schools in Devon and Cornwall to have been given the Gold Award.

The RE Quality Mark, in connection with the Religious Education Council, assess the schools on five sections of RE teaching: learners and learning, teachers and teaching, curriculum, subject leadership and continuing professional development.

Malborough Primary cover all the major religions in their RE teaching, age-specific to each key-stage level. Pupils learn about different religion’s beliefs, culture and celebrations.

An assessor from the REQM also talks to the pupils about their experiences with learning RE at the schools. Grace Crow, 10, said she enjoyed ‘researching different things and writing about them’ best in RE lessons.
