MERRY Go Round Pre-school in Stokenham has a new committee, a new chairman and has a ‘bright future’.

Experienced teacher, Vicky Harris, has been appointed chairman and she says ‘highly motivated volunteers’ were elected to the committee at the recent Annual General Meeting.

She said: ‘I am delighted and honoured to take on this new role, following in the footsteps of a successful five-year tenure of my predecessor, Leoarna Mathias.

‘We have some exciting plans in place for Merry Go Round Pre-school to ensure it continues to have a bright future within our community.’

Merry Go Round Pre-School is charitably run, has been established for over 46 years and is based in the grounds of Stokenham Area Primary School.

Vicky continued: ‘On Monday, November 7, we held a free taster session and toddler group at the Merry Go Round, so that parents could see for themselves the care and child-led learning that we offer, and see our wonderful environment, including our gardens and meet our dedicated team.

‘The provision provides care and education in a safe, secure and stimulating environment and includes a Forest School session.

Emma Parker, Manager explain: ‘Our primary aim is to support our parents in developing happy, confident children with positive attitudes to life and learning, we do this by following a child-led philosophy; every child is treated as an individual and activities are tailored to their specific needs.’

Merry-Go-Round is open to all children aged between two years to five years from throughout the area with children currently attending from across the South Hams including Stokenham, Chillington, East Portlemouth, Prawle, Blackawton, Kingsbridge and Slapton and many more villages in the area.
