A hairdressing apprentice from Kingsbridge has won a South Devon College Apprenticeship Award.
Catherine Johns works at Floc Contemporary Hair, Fore Street, Kingsbridge, and has just won the Best Professional Skills award from South Devon College at the Imperial Hotel Torquay on Thursday, March 9.
Catherine’s college tutor Lucy Wallace said: “Catherine worked exceptionally hard throughout her apprenticeship and achieved early. When faced with obstacles, she showed maturity beyond her years, finding innovative ways to resolve problems.
“Catherine has strong interpersonal skills, and impeccable time management. Catherine was an A* student who deserves recognition for her dedication and professionalism.
Lucy said she nominated Catherine for her “outstanding efforts”, she showed how “professional she was not only in her working skills but her attitude towards the hairdressing industry”. She called her a “star pupil”, with “high attendance”, and is “hard working, enthusiastic and highly motivated with a positive attitude” and is a “credit to her salon”.
Owner of Floc Contemporary Hair, Charlotte Eden-Power, said: “We are very proud that Catherine has won this award, she has worked hard over the past couple of years and is still very enthusiastic for learning all she can in our hairdressing industry.
“She has done exceeding well at college and has enjoyed the other training courses we have sent her on, as well as her in salon training we have done with her. She is an asset to Floc, we love working with her and she has a bright future ahead of her.”
Catherine is now fully qualified and is taking appointments and bookings on Mondays.
