Pupils at Kingsbridge Community Primary School have brand new tools and a wheelbarrow to help with their green fingered creativity.
Jenna Bigwood, Kingsbridge Primary’s Parents,Teachers and Friends Association, first got the ball rolling when she saw a competition from local builder’s merchant Palladium to win a free wheelbarrow. She entered on behalf of the PTFA but didn’t win, this didn’t stop her though!
She rang up Palladium and asked if they could purchase a wheelbarrow from them for the Gardening Club pupils.
This is where Palladium’s Karina Tyszkiewicz, the sales and purchase manager, and Sylvain Bordas, buyer, contacted one of their suppliers, Draper Tools.
“We always want to support the local community”, Karina explained, “so we donated the wheelbarrow and then contacted Draper Tools to see if they could help, and their rep Adam donated a big box of tools worth £250!”
On top of this, the Gardening Club also recieved a £250 donation from County and District Cllr Rufus Gilbert from his Locality Fund.
Cllr Gilbert said: “I am always pleased to help young people of Kingsbridge and Kingsbridge Community Primary is a great school. Its great to see the youngsters enjoying being outside and all the good things that come along with that.”
Jenna said: “The PTFA are working alongside the school helping to contribute to the outside space around the school to improve the access and overall look. We are also contributing considerable towards a new all-weather athletics track as well as other projects and commitments.”
