A CONCERT in aid of WORDWISE bookshop in Kingsbridge will take place at Stokenham Church this month.
Five performers will take to the stage at St Michael and All Angels Church in Stokenham for the concert on Saturday, February 20, at 7.30pm.
Clare Jefferis, a flautist a former member of the National Youth Orchestra, now performs as a freelance musician and has worked with the English national Opera, Philharmonia, BBC Philharmonic and others. She has played for the Royal Family and at the BBC Proms.
Tamar Brass Quintet are made up of civilian and military players living and working in the South West. Formed just last year, they have already performed with a successful touring show and an interactive performance for primary school children.
Anna Prowse is an operatic soprano who has performed with Opera Coast and Bacchanale. She teaches singing at The Lady Eleanor Holles School in London, where she also directs three choirs. Anna also works part time for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain asa section leader.
Jack Highley and Eliza Haskins both attend The Purcell School, a music school for young musicians aged between nine and 18 in Bushey, on the outskirts of London.
Jack is a violinist and has only recently started attending the school, and is already part of its Symphony Orchestra and is performing with them at the Royal Festival Hall this month. As well as being a talented violinist, Jack can also turn his hand to the guitar and the piano.
Eliza is 12-years-old and has been attending The Purcell School since she was nine. Her first instrument in the recorder, but she also plays the flute and piano. Recently she performed at Goldsmith’s Hall in front of 200 people from the musical establishment.
Local musicians Alastair Durden, Jo Highley and Robin Brett will accompany the performers.
