In the past few days we have heard of the tragic death of teenager Nathan Woods, we’ve read about the suicide of a 26- year-old woman and the police posted on Facebook they had thwarted two separate suicide attempts in Kingsbridge.

This isn’t good. We don’t like to hear reports like this in our own community. It’s another reminder that there is something wrong with our world and we are all involved.

We might not know the people and families involved but we do know people who feel broken and lost. We might even feel like that ourselves.

In the South Hams there is a strong caring Christian community ready to help. It’s what we do best.

We won’t respond with religion but with love, patience and confidentiality.
