A PROTEST against the badger cull is coming to Kingsbridge this Saturday, as the group, ‘South Hams, Oppose the Badger Cull’ is organising a march and rally.
The march will assemble at Square’s Quay in the Quay car park at 12pm on Saturday, September 17.
A spokesperson for the group said: ‘A roll out of the badger cull is sweeping the South Hams and towns like Kingsbridge stand to suffer huge economic impacts when tourists choose to holiday elsewhere - with 94 per cent of the British public opposed to these badger culls.’
The spokesperson added: ‘Kingsbridge has at least five badger culling farms overlooking the town.’
The group are advising that the dress code is ‘badgery’, with ‘placards, face painting and dogs on leads all welcome.’
They have stated that they wish to send a message to ‘South Hams Council, MPs Sarah Wollaston and Gary Streeter and the culling farmers’, that the cull is ‘inhumane, unscientific and undemocratic.’
The Gazette will be joining activists for a ‘badger patrol’ this week.
