The Rotary Club of Dartmouth selected a town personality to make the December draw of the Club’s Charity Prize Draw – including the annual Christmas bumper prize of £1,000.

A Rotary spokesman said: “Local personality and White Sails Gallery owner Adam Edsall picked the winning number eagerly watched on Zoom as he drew the once a year bumper prize of £1,000.”

The £1,000 prize winner was Geoff Hicks.

The draw was set up by the Rotary Club at the end of last year, after it was running short of funds in its charity account and unable to raise funds in the traditional manner with coffee mornings, fetes and the like during the pandemic.

The spokesman added: “All monies donated to the draw will be ring-fenced for donating to worthy causes in the Dartmouth community and on the initial contributions will well exceed £5,000 this year.”

The prizes each month are £100 for first prize plus three other prizes of £20 each. Plus, once a year, every December, the bumper prize is £1000.

The next draw will take place on Thursday January 6, and the first Thursday of every month from then on.
