The picture of the Staverton Youth Club in the Peep at the Past section brought back many memories for me because I recognise all of the people in the picture (above).

In the top row is Denis Alton; next to him is Mary Pine, Elizabeth Price and, further down with their arms on each other’s shoulders, is John Norley and another lad whose name I have forgotten.

I was born 83 years ago in my grandmother’s house at 7 Plymouth Road, Totnes, and my parents were the late Fred and Nellie Baker, of Parklands, Totnes.

I visit Drake Memorial Park, where my husband is buried, every Friday and put red roses there. Quite nearby is John Norley, and I put some on his grave as well.
