A dog’s birthday party has raised more than £350 for a charity for support animals.

Lou Newman’s labrador bitch Ronni had a litter of nine puppies last year and they decided to celebrate the puppies’ birthday while raising money for Support Dogs Ltd, a charity providing specially-trained assistance dogs for people with autism, epilepsy or other disabilities.

Lou said: “In the end we managed to get 14 related Labradors to Beesands, eight of the nine puppies, with their mum and dad, plus granny, a great-uncle and great-aunt and an uncle.

“It was great to recognise how special these ordinary family pets are to their owners for their general well-being. For those whose lives are made more difficult through disability, autism or epilepsy, the specially trained dogs are able to transform their lives.”

Lou said they had already raised more than £350 for the charity, but would love to push that amount up to £500.
