A SLAPTON resident has been disqualified from driving for 20 months and ordered to pay £415 in fines after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

Robert Hingston, 49, of Greenbanks, Slapton, was charged with driving his Ford Ka on the A379 at Stokenham while under the influence of alcohol on November 12. He was recorded as having 75 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mg/100ml.

He pleaded guilty on November 30, at Torquay Magistrates Court and was disqualified for driving for 20 months, reduced by five months if he completes an awareness course by November 30, 2017. He was also ordered to pay a fine of £300, a victim services charge of £30 and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
