A 30-year-old Torquay man has been arrested after crashing a stolen car in Stokenham yesterday.

Kingsbridge Police received a call at 4.50pm after a green Honda CRV was rolled in Stokenham, near the caravan park on the A379. Two people were in the vehicle but neither were injured.

When police arrived they discovered that the driver did not have a driving licence or insurance and he had stolen the car from an address in Torquay earlier in the day. When he was brought to Kingsbridge Police Station for interview, it was discovered he was also wanted for burglary and criminal damage in Torquay. He will be summonsed to court.

One carriageway was blocked until around 7pm. Sgt Dave Green from Kingsbridge Police thanked everyone for their patience while the road was cleared, saying: ‘This was a very inconvenient time for people trying to get back from work, so thank you.’
