KINGSBRIDGE Police and Kingsbridge Town Council will be out and about on Monday, giving you the opportunity to ‘Have Your Say’.

With the assistance of Plymouth University students undertaking the Public Services Degree course, local officers, together with representatives of the council, will be out and about in the town centre on Monday, November 14, seeking the views of people who live or work in the local community.

Sgt Dave Green, Kingsbridge Police said: ‘The obvious reason for doing this is to help police and the council understand community problems that we might otherwise not be aware of. This then helps us to undertake appropriate problem solving work with our partners to safeguard the community and improve quality of life.

‘Additionally we are a public service that polices by consent, as opposed to a paramilitary arm of the state. As such, we derive our moral authority to act from the widespread consent of the British public. This is a concept that dates back almost 200 years to the time of Sir Robert Peel, and one that we take great pride in upholding.

‘Our survey day in Kingsbridge on Monday is a direct application of this tradition.’
