A CAR aquaplaned through a hedge and ended up in a field on Sunday night, but the driver was not seriously injured.

Kingsbridge Police received a call from paramedics at around 9pm on Sunday, February 7, to say that a car was in a field at the bottom of Pinhay’s Hill, between Malborough and Kingsbridge on the A381.

The driver of the silver Golf had apparently aquaplaned, crashed through a hedge and ended up in the field. He sustained an injury to his wrist but was taken to hospital by a relative after being checked over by paramedics.

Police tape was placed at the scene to show that the police are aware and they were discussing with the landowner on Monday morning as to how to remove the car from the field.

Sergeant Dave Green of Kingsbridge Police said: ‘We want to remind people of the importance of driving for the conditions, and slow down in appalling weather we’ve been having over the weekend.

‘Even if it has stopped raining and there is blue skies, we have had a lot of rain recently and its easy to come round the corner and be faced with a large puddle’.
