A PERSON has been airlifted to Derriford Hospital after an ’incident’ at Longstone near Bantham Sands according to the Coastguard.

A spokesman for Marine and Coastguard Agency said: ’Shortly after 1pm today, Monday, October 17, South Western Ambulance Service requested UK coastguard assistance at an incident near a cliff at Longstone, near Bantham Sands.

Hope Cove and Bigbury Coastguard Rescue Teams and the UK Coastguard search and rescue helicopter based at Newquay, alongside a helimed, were sent to the scene.

’The casualty was winched on board the Coastguard helicopter with the HEMS Doctor and taken to Derriford Hospital.’
