LOCAL residents have been complaining to Kingsbridge Town Council about the removal of the 93 bus.
The 93 First route from Plymouth to Dartmouth, via Kingsbridge, serving Yealmpton, Modbury, Churchstow, Frogmore, Chillington, Stokenham, Slapton and Stoke Fleming, is running until September 14, at which time it will be replaced by the 3 route from Stagecoach.
The 3 appears to follow the same route, minus a stop at Frogwell, which is a six-minute walk from the Kings Arms car park stop in Strete, and the Endsleigh Hotel, a slightly longer 12-minute walk to the next nearest stop, Stoke Fleming.
The new route 3 from Stagecoach also includes a Sunday service that will run through Kingsbridge, West Charleton, Frogmore, Stokenham, Torcross, Slapton, Strete, Stoke Fleming and Dartmouth twice a day.
A spokesman for Devon County Council said: ‘Stagecoach has taken over First Devon and Cornwall commitments in Devon and the 93 service will be renumbered as 3.
‘There will be no change to the Monday-Saturday service, most of which is run commercially. However, from Sunday, September 20, as part of the county council’s public transport service changes, the Sunday service will no longer go to Plymouth. It will instead run between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, enabling it to run all year rather than just in summer’.
So the 93 has had its day, but it is being replaced with an almost identical year-round service that will also run on Sundays.
