Last term, eleven members of the 6th Kingsbridge Beaver Scout Colony were presented with the Chief Scout’s Bronze Award.

The Chief Scout’s Bronze Award is the highest award possible in the section, which caters for the youngest members of the Scout Association.

In order to gain the award, the ten boys and one girl had to complete a wide variety of activities and challenges ranging from crabbing, hiking and archery to learning basic first aid, attending church parades and sleepovers and many more besides.

They also had to demonstrate their ability to work as part of a team and to undertake activities which benefit the community such as helping the Kingsbridge in Bloom team with planting wildflower seeds.

Leader Julia McGing said: “It is always a pleasure to see our Beavers achieving the top award. They have all worked very hard and should feel very proud of themselves.”

The Beaver Colony is part of the 6th Kingsbridge Scout Group which encompasses Cubs and Sea Scouts too, providing opportunities for girls and boys aged from 6 to 14 to challenge themselves, learn new skills and most of all have fun.

The Group is currently seeking a new Scout leader as Bruce Pritchard is retiring from the role later this year. If you are interested in finding out more about what is involved, please contact Bruce: [email protected] or 07970 030089.
