This season Manstow Football Club has gone from strength to strength in their performance and development with great success for this local club.

Manstow U12s were overall winners of the Warspite Barry Hodge Memorial Cup this season with a brilliant win over YMCA All Saints and have finished second in their league, gaining them promotion for next season.

This team have played together for four years and based on a foundation of team work, friendship and sportsmanship, the U12s personify the spirit of Manstow FC, and the ethos created by the late Nick Cummins, who started the club in 1984 and continues in fine vein by Paul Maller and the club’s committee.

The Manstow U9s, sponsored by Subway and McColl’s in Ivybridge, only started playing together this season and were winners of the U9 Lynher Cup Plate.

The club’s new U10s side were cup winners at the Torpoint Festival and Manstow U15s have narrowly missed out on promotion this season, finishing fourth in their league.

Come rain or shine, all of the teams from U7s through to U16s train and play under the positive and knowledgeable guidance of their qualified coaches at Filham Park and this positivity is reflected throughout the club.

Since last season Manstow FC now has multiple teams in most age groups and was chosen to be the wildcat centre for girls’ football training in the local area, which links to Plymouth Argyle’s girl’s football development.

Manstow Football Club currently supports more than 125 children and young people, of whom the majority live in Ivybridge, through the game of football.

The club promotes sportsmanship and fair play and provide facilities to allow members to develop their full potential while also promoting the concept of healthy living through exercise and through participation in sport.

The club’s new secretary Martin Bowman said: “What makes Manstow different to some other clubs is we welcome all players of varying abilities, some children with no experience at all, and we develop them to the best of their ability so they can enjoy playing the sport they love.

“With the support and help of our sponsors who we are always grateful to – Subway and McColl’s Ivybridge, ACD Electrical, RCD Utilities, David May, Full Circle, DS Plastering, Stick n Stitch and Pure we hope our 2018/2019 season will be a successful one”.
