A four-part mixed choir from Fishguard will be visiting Dodbrooke Church on Friday, April 21.
The concert has been arranged to support the final year of fundraising for the Dodbrooke Church Hall Refurbishment Fund.
Côr Abergwaun is a well-known community choir that has recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, having been founded after the 1986 National Welsh Eisteddfod in Fishguard.
Following an invitation from former choir member Margaret Stephens of Dodbrooke Church, 36 of its singers, together with friends and family members will be making a brief visit to the South Hams. They will be staying for two nights in Hope Cove, experiencing the lovely Devon coastline, in striking contrast to the wild and windswept, but equally impressive seascape of Cardigan Bay.
The programme will feature a wide selection of Welsh and English music, including a newly commissioned medley of Welsh hymn tunes, Cadwyn o Emynau Cymreig, together with some familiar folk songs, and sacred music for the Easter season.
The choir will be joined by the young soloist Catrin Raymond from Mathry, near St Davids. She is currently in her final year at the Royal Welsh School of Music and Drama, prior to commencing a PGCE qualification in primary education.
The singers are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to share the music of Wales with an English audience and have been rehearsing enthusiastically for their visit.
Also included in the evening’s entertainment will be items provided by local musicians, including folk singers the Debman Duo, and pianists Jamie Falla and Robin Brett.
The concert begins at 7.30pm on Friday, April 21.
