Rotarians have donated £1,200 towards a community kitchen in need of restoration following heavy use during the pandemic.
In the height of the pandemic Townstal Community Hall was the centre of food production for the needy, as well as providing other support to the community. The Hall committee said the kitchen suffered and has now set about replenishing the kitchen facilities.
Hall Trustee Anna Brownlow said: “Townstal Community Hall began to come back into general use as a community facility over the summer of 2021. The kitchen in particular had very heavy use during the pandemic being used to produce meals.
“One cooker and one refrigerator have failed a PAT test, the worktop is burned and the handwashing basin and tap are defective. As a result it’s now in need of refurbishment to bring it back up to the standard of the rest of the Hall’s provision.”
The Rotary Club of Dartmouth has donated £1,200 towards the kitchen refurbishment.
President Nick Hindmarsh said: “The Club is pleased to contribute to the kitchen restoration with members keen to provide support. The club recognises the importance of the Hall to Dartmouth and particularly to the community of Townstal.”
