TWO local ladies are continuing their fundraising efforts to complete a trek in the Grand Canyon.

Amy Lethbridge and Kirstie Lett are planning to trek the Grand Canyon for nine days, and need to raise £4,000 each to complete the challenge.

In August, they organised the Chillington Park family fun day, raising over £1,000 for the two charities they are supporting: the Devon Air Ambulance Trust and the British Heart Foundation.

The fun day featured a selection of traditional entertainment, including a bouncy castle, face-painting, a raffle, a tombola, lucky dips, a ’name the teddy’ competition, a ‘guess how many sweets are in the jar’ competition and a hog roast from Rose Farm.

Amy is raising money for the Devon Air Ambulance in memory of Daniel Foale, known to his friends as DJ, who was killed in a car accident near Dartmouth in January.

Kirstie is raising money in memory of her baby cousin, Riley Dylan Sperryn who died of an undiagnosed heart condition known as dilated cariomyopathy.

Amy Lethbridge said: ‘We were overwhelmed with how many people came and supported us. Everyone had fun and enjoyed every aspect of the day. Thank you to all the local businesses who donated items and all the helpers throughout the day.

‘We have now raised over £1,000 each on our pages. We also held a fundraising day where I work, at Tesco in Kingsbridge, and raised over £100. We have plans for a Christmas quiz but will announce details closer to the time.’
