A COUPLE from Kingsbridge who setup a stall for The Greyhound Sanctuary at the Tesco supermarket raised more than £400 for the charity this week.
The Greyhound Sanctuary is a small, Devon-based charity that provides homes for abandoned greyhounds and lurchers.
Seven people manned the stall throughout the day, assisted by Enya the lurcher and Lyra the greyhound.
The collection took place in the foyer of Tesco in Kingsbridge, and raised a total of £438.27 for the charity.
Ceri Jayes, who setup the stall with her husband Mike said: ‘We’d like to say thank you to Tesco - its the second year we’ve been there, and it’d be nice to make it an annual event.
‘Thanks also to those who donated money and those who manned the stall: Mike Jayes, Alison Baker, Carol Horton, Yvnone James, Sue Barnwell and also Sally Slater who came down from the Greyhound Sanctuary in Exeter.’
Ceri added: ‘The money will be used to rehabilitate and re-home abandoned and abused greyhounds and lurchers. They’re always in need of new homes for rescued dogs, a full list of dogs who need rehoming is available online at: www.thegreyhoundsancturary.org.’
