STONEMASONS working in Frogmore have been receiving abuse from motorists complaining that the temporary traffic lights aren’t working.

Bridge Civil Engineering have been in the village fixing a retaining wall since the beginning of January. Last month, the Gazette reported social media claims that the traffic lights were ‘out of sync’, and visited Frogmore to speak to site manager Mike Reynolds.

Mr Reynolds explained that Ameron are the company responsible for maintaing the lights: ‘Ameron inspect the lights every day to check the batteries. They also check the synchronisation of the lights. We think a lot of people are jumping the lights because of the large distance between the signals.’

Last week Mike Rockey from Bridge Civil Engineering contacted the Gazette to explain that since the story had been printed, the workforce on site had been receiving further abuse from the public.

He explained: ‘The lights have been checked and have a safety allowance, which has been increased due to people skipping the lights.

‘Motorists have been getting impatient waiting at red lights. The long wait is due to the large distance and lack of visibility between the lights - and many have been jumping red lights believing them to be broken.’

Mr Rockey asked motorists to remain calm and patient while in Frogmore to allow the sub-contracted stonemasons to work in peace.

The work is scheduled to be completed by the end of February.
