SOUTH Hams MP Dr Sarah Wollaston, this week asked for a reassurance in the House of Commons that there would be no more large-scale solar farms in Devon.
In a debate on the Government's plan to end new subsidies for onshore wind on Monday, Dr Wollaston asked the Secretary of State for Energy and the Environment, Amber Rudd, if she could 'reassure my constituents that this will not mean that we see a further expansion in very large-scale field solar across south Devon?'
Ms Rudd replied: 'We [the Government] support the desire to make sure that we address the issue of climate change: the problem is we do not want large-scale solar.
'But we are trying to support solar so that we have as much as possible through community energy, on people's houses and other buildings.'
