A TEN-year-old girl made a remarkable discovery last weekend, finding a message in a bottle on Thurlestone Sands.

Isabella, who was beachcombing with her family, discovered the large green bottle with a handwritten message in French hidden inside.

The message was from a nine-year-old Parisian girl called Léopoldine, who had posted her bottle to sea from the island of Ushant, off the coast of Britanny in July.

The message, translated into English reads: ‘I have sent this bottle to sea from Ushant, reply to me thank you.’

Isabella has since sent an email to Léopoldine who was amazed that the bottle had been found.

Isabella said: ‘It was so cool to find a bottle with a message and amazing it didn’t smash on the rocks. It was great hearing from Léopoldine and it will be fun having a friend in Paris.’
