A South Hams internet groomer has admitted trying to meet an underage girl for sex after he was trapped by a group of online vigilantes.
David Hack, 34, from Churchstow, was arrested by police at the Morrisons store in Kingsbridge last month, after falling for a decoy operation run by the Plymouth Against Paedophiles group.
He had been groming what he thought was a 15-year-old girl in an internet chat room when in reality he was in contact with members of the vigilante group.
Hack pleaded guilty at Exeter Crown Court to attempting to meet a girl aged under 16 following grooming and attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity.
Judge Erik Salomonsen adjourned his case until January 18 and ordered a full probation pre sentence report.
James Taghdissian, defending, said Hack was the main carer for his frail 84-year-old grandmother and lives with her near Kingsbridge.
Hack is the latest in a string of men who have fallen foul of the Plymouth-based group, who operate by posing as under age girls in chat rooms and on social media sites including Whatsapp.
He arranged to meet what he believed to be a 15-year-old girl at the supermarket but was instead intercepted by members of the group, who called the police to arrest him.
