OVER the May Bank Holiday weekend, scarecrows of all shapes and sizes will be returning to Malborough.

The Malborough Scarecrow Trail is held every couple of years and sees residents create scarecrows of famous people past and present.

Prizes are awarded for the ‘Judges’ Favourite Scarecrow’, the ‘Best Scarecrow’ and the ‘Trail’s Favourite Scarecrow’ so competition is going to be pretty fierce.

Trail forms will be on sale from Malborough’s Village Hall during Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 28, 29, 30, between 10am to 5pm, and refreshments will be available to keep you sustained.

There will be tea, coffee, wonderful home-made cakes, ploughman’s lunches and cream teas all being served throughout each day with a bar every lunchtime. On Sunday, May 29, a bouncy castle will be on site from 11.30am–2pm to keep the youngsters amused whilst you take a rest from following the Scarecrow Trail.

Sunday lunchtime will see the hall team serving bacon baps, hot dogs and quiche with salad in addition to ploughman’s lunches.

When you come into the hall to buy your trail form don’t forget to have a good browse around the craft, produce and book stalls and let’s not forget the raffle too!

Take your time following the trail around the village as there is a competition to see who can identify the most characters being portrayed by the scarecrows. Entry forms should be returned to the Village Hall by 5pm on Monday, May 30, or alternatively, to Malborough Post Office by 10am on Tuesday, May 31.

Profits raised from the weekend will be shared between Malborough Village Hall and Playing Fields Association and All Saints Church, Malborough.
