Rehearsals are well under way now in Malborough Village Hall for the Malborough Amateur Dramatics Kids Group production of Footloose.
The MAD Kids will be taking on the musical that was made famous in 1984 when Kevin Bacon took on the lead role of Ren, a city teenager moves to a small town where rock music and dancing have been banned.
Jill Clarke, MAD Kids, said: “This is a highly energetic show, with an emphasis on dance, and with a cast of 50 local youngsters, aged between eight and 18.
“The enthusiastic company are being put through their paces by two young choreographers, Sarah Montague and Tara Roberts and Rich Carter is in charge of the music for the show with his live band.
“Two of the MAD Kids original performers, Claire Tapper and Gaby Clarke, are also heavily involved as director and vocal coach. This show will be on in Malborough from 10–12 August and tickets are currently available from the Malborough Post Office and the Kingsbridge Information Centre.”
This group won the Youth Achievement Award from the National Operatic and Dramatic Association for their last production, Calamity Jane, and are looking forward to a visit from the regional representative during this production.
