Cllr Robin Griffin, Kingsbridge Town Council, writes: Having gnashed my teeth about the Redford Meadow events in the middle of last week, especially that two of our local bobbies were gashed, I was surprised the Gazette had the story by Friday. The report was factual, balanced and noticeably avoided garish detail or tabloid language. As we have come to expect, our town sergeant Dave Green spoke out for a level-headed reaction from townsfolk, which is all the more commendable considering two of his colleagues were injured. We don't want the name of our lovely town associated with violent events, but this reminded me that many of us councillors were really appreciative of Sam Acourt's reporting style regarding the bus station murder of Alex Peguera Sosa, which could have included garish detail of that horror event. We assumed that she was sensitive to family members reading grossly upsetting detail, and of course that also applies to the bizarre incident involving Steve Yabsley. It seems probable that this restraint on Sam's part is editorial policy, in which case I thank the Gazette.
