A KINGSBRIDGE resident has passed his Category D bus test at Exeter so he can drive the Coleridge Bus.

Sean O’Reilly has recently moved to Kingsbridge and wanted to ‘offer something to the community, to give something back because people have been so welcoming to me’.

He took the test, which he described as ‘tough’, to allow him to drive the Coleridge Bus, a bus service serving ten rural parishes, using volunteer drivers, but also to fulfil a ‘boyhood dream’.

He says there will be additional training he needs to go through at Coleridge, including extra safety training, shadowing drivers and learning routes before he goes out on his own, taking people to the shops and doctors appointments.

The Coleridge Bus needs your help to continue. If you can help out for two hours a week, two hours a month or twice a year, they have a job you could do to help them out.

It doesn’t matter if you’re 18 or 80, all they need is your time and willingness. If you have some expertise on computers and good organisation skills then you could be especially helpful to them.

If you think you could help, call 01548 511113 or 531451.
