KINGSBRIDGE Fair Week has begun, timed perfectly with the arrival of summer weather.
The first weekend of activities and events pulled the crowds in beneath blue skies, as the annual town celebration was officially opened on Saturday, July 16 by president of Fair Week, Adrian Masters.
This was followed by the crowning ceremony, with Queen Lauren Grant, 13, Princess Jess Stewart, 10, and Princess Sophie Hoskins, 11, crowned as the town’s new royalty by retiring Queen, Sophie Green.
The raft races pulled the crowds in on Sunday, with a team from Toad Hall Cottage winning the hotly contested race.
Other activities over the first weekend included the ever-popular crazy quiz - with more than 300 people taking part, five-a-side football, tag rugby, the Kingsbridge gym club display team, and a great selection of music on the bandstand, including sea shanties from The Old Gaffers and rock n roll from The Mannequins.
Jo Luscombe, chairman of Fair Week said: ‘It’s all been great so far.
‘And the weather has definitely been on our side!’
Adrian Masters, president of Fair Week added: ‘We’ve had great weather, and great participation!
