PUPILS at East Allington Primary School are learning practical ‘forest’ skills with the help of a £250 donation from Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club.

The idea behind forest schools is to enable youngsters to be safe and confident when handling tools, cutting wood, managing a fire, assembling basic structures and so on. Staff guidance is provided throughout and the pupils are encouraged to be creative and work in teams.

Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary Club are delighted to have provided a grant of £250 towards equipment for these outdoor activities. KERC makes a £250 grant each month to the application which is judged to provide best benefit to the community. Funds have been kindly donated locally, for example from the Christmas float collection.

So far under the grant scheme Rotary has provided in total £4,000 to sixteen schools, clubs, organisations, or individuals. Applications are welcome and can be made by completing and submitting the simple application form on the website: www.estuaryrotary.org.uk
