PTFA members biked, paddled and walked to raise money for much anticipated forest school classroom.

Kingsbridge Community College PTFA held its fourth annual Fun-athlon on Saturday, June 23 under blue skies and warm sun.

Twenty pink-clad women set off from Bantham on bikes along the lanes to South Milton and Thurlestone and back for a pit stop at the salad bar. The tide then helped the ladies during the second leg of the day as they headed up the Avon Estuary to Aveton Gifford on stand-up paddleboards. After a quick break to rehydrate and refuel with flapjacks, the PFTA team walked along the waterside walk back down the valley.

No records were set as conviviality was the aim of the day, though Pimms at the finish line was a welcome treat to all. The women raised more than £500 towards the academy’s forest school classroom.

PTFA chairperson Lara Christopher said: “A huge thank you to Sonja Harrow for impeccable organisation, delicious salad and refreshments; Bantham Estate for their support and Busby & Fox for a £50 gift voucher and some beautiful flowers from Blackawton Blooms.”
