KINGSBRIDGE Amateur Theatrical Society, KATS, presents their summer play: Tons of Money by Will Evans and Arthur Valentine.

Originally performed in 1922 as the first of the famous ‘Aldwych’ farces, Alan Ayckbourn revised the comedy in 1986 and it is this version that KATS will be performing.

The play is centred on Aubrey Allington and his wife Louise, who are both desperately strapped for cash. However, they like to live in style with a butler, maid, gardener and cook, so, when they suddenly come into a legacy, you can imagine their delight.

Unfortunately, they realise that they will now have to pay all their debts and be impoverished once more, so they dream up a harebrained scheme to cheat their creditors.

Director Malcolm MacIntosh says: ‘Events naturally do not go according to plan in this hysterical farce and, with Alan Ayckbourn’s stamp on things, there are complications, misunderstandings and mistaken identities galore. It’s all enormous fun!’

Featuring a stellar KATS cast, Tons of Money runs from September 14-17 at 7.30pm at Malborough Village Hall. Tickets are available at Kingsbridge Information Centre and online at: www.kats-kingsbridge.co.uk
