SOAR Mill Cove Hotel has donated £400 to the Salcombe RNLI following generosity from guests over the summer.

On Monday, November 16, Soar Mill Cove Hotel owner Keith Makepeace presented Coxswain Chris Winzar with the cheque.

Matt Davies, Salcombe RNLI said: ‘Such support and the generosity like this from our local community enable our volunteers to train on a weekly basis in order to keep their skills up-to-date for when they are required in an emergency situation.’

Three years ago, the volunteer crew from Salcombe RNLI were tasked with assisting a bodyboarder at Soar Mill Cove when he got into difficulty. The inshore lifeboat and three crew saved the life of the man by manoeuvring the 7.5m RIB into heavy surf and pulling him to safety.

Salcombe RNLI would like to thank the staff and guests of Soar Mill Cove Hotel for their generosity.
