All Saints Primary School, Thurlestone, held a quiz night in aid of the Friends of Thurlestone School. The FTS, Thurlestone primary school’s Parents, Teachers, Friends Association, raised more than £2,000 for new library books, cameras for classrooms, touch typing classes, and art resources for Arts Week.
The event, held at the Sloop Inn, Bantham, on Thursday, June 15, was attended by nearly 60 people. Lynsey Sizer, All Saints Primary, said: “People were treated to a delicious fish pie and pud, by Rod and his fantastic team at The Sloop – some called it brain food for when the all-important quiz began!
“The Sloop kindly lend The Sloop to the FTS and have done for many years to ensure we can raise the most amount of funds for the school.”
Annalese Murray, FTS co-chair said: “We’re always so thankful for everyone who helps make the Quiz happen – it is a great, fun night and importantly raises valued fund that benefit all the children at our school.
“Mr Bosence, our Deputy Head, once again donned his quiz master hat as ten teams battled it out to be crowned quiz champions 2017. The quiz itself was designed with help from the reception class at the school and some rounds had a school theme of course!
“The eventual winners were the ‘Teachers Table’, of course, but many teams vowed to beat them next year, so Rod and The Sloop – get ready for us!”
Organisers wished to pass on their thanks to the Sloop for their continued support and to “the many companies that kindly donated prizes for our auction” including the Crabshell Inn, the Hair Advice Centre, Triocean, Waterborn Sports, Will Bees Bespoke, the Thurlestone Hotel, Higher Aunemouth Camping, Salcombe Gin, Dart Marina Hotel, Gidleigh Park, Dartmouth Golf and Country Club and The Millbrook Inn.
