East Allington Fete was blessed with glorious sunshine, raising £2,500 for St Andrew’s Church and drawing in crowds both young and old.
Some of the highlights included a bouncy castle, as well as traditional games including beat the buzzer, hook a duck and roll a penny.
There was also a display of artwork in St Andrew’s church, including children’s postcards based on a holiday or seaside theme, designed with the help of East Allington Art Club.
There was a guess the weight of a lamb competition with a local farmer, a golf competition, welly wanging and a tug of war (saved at the last minute by children, youngsters and the football club).
There was also a band, who provided atmosphere performing rock music throughout the afternoon, a book stall and stories for the children from Charlie Edgeter.
There raffle was sponsored by The Fortescue Arms with a great selection of prizes, and of course, the cake stall and the obligatory Pimms were as popular as ever.
Geoff Lockyer, one of the organisers said: “Thanks to The Fortescue Arms and St Austell Brewery for being so forthcoming with prizes.
“Thanks to Barbara Lockyer, who ran the raffle, David Fox, Sue Larner and everybody else who helped throughout the day.”
“It was a jolly nice time, a fun, good atmosphere,” Geoff added.
