OVERLEAT Residential Home in Kingsbridge has requested help from readers of the Gazette, in the hope of passing some items belonging to the late Eileen Griffiths on to her family.

Staff at the care home recently found a photograph of Eileen, along with a certificate presented to her by the then Prime Minister Gordon Brown in July 2008.

The certificate recognised her time in the Women’s Land Army and Timber Corps, stating: ‘The government wishes to express to you its profound gratitude for your unsparing efforts as a loyal and devoted member of the Women’s Land Army / Women’s Timber Corps at a time when our country depended upon you for its survival.’
