THE fifth ‘Big Night Out On The Beach’ is taking place on South Milton Sands on Saturday.

The event, organised by South Devon AONB together with the National Trust, will be a family beach event, with a huge choice of activities.

Including rock-pooling, snorkelling, beach sports including hoola-hooping and finishing with the ‘secrets of the sea’ Sundown Parade.’

There will be a range of experts on hand to lead the events and help everyone discover the nightlife of the AONB.

There is a jam packed programme with some activities going on at specific times and others will be going on throughout the evening.

The Beach House café will be open for refreshments or families are welcome to bring their own picnics. Everyone is encouraged to bring binoculars, a torch and warm clothes. To join in the lantern making, visitors are asked to bring a clean jam jar.

The event is now in its fifth year and last year attracted 500 people.

South Devon AONB communities officer Nicky Bailey said: ‘Big Night Out is one of our flagship events, in a stunning location. It is such a great family event – relaxed, fun and a fabulous way to mark the end of the summer.

‘There’s the opportunity to participate in so many activities whilst discovering more about what lies beneath the sea.’

Big Night Out on the beach is in the run up to ‘outstanding’ week, which takes place from Saturday, September 17 until Sunday, September 25.
