Aveton Gifford’s annual St Andrew’s church fete basked in brilliant sunshine last weekend, raising more than £2,300 for church funds.
Some of the traditional games and activities on offer included a coconut shy, pony rides and whack-a-rat. There were also stalls selling plants, crafts, cakes as well as a white elephant.
The Modbury Ukulele Band put in a fine performance, and Emazdad, the children’s entertainer, captivated the youngsters with magic tricks and by making balloon animals.
Rosie Warrillow, churchwarden at St Andrew’s said: “It was a great afternoon with wonderful weather. Crowds of people arrived for the earlier than usual start for one the biggest events in the village’s calendar.
“The ladies providing cream teas were kept very busy in the hall and Zoe wishes to thank everyone who helped on the day and those who baked cakes to sell.
“We had a great response from local businesses providing prizes for the raffle, so thank you to all of them.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone for the £2,339 we raised for the church.
“Thank you to everyone involved in organising the fete.”
