A KAYAKER was rescued at Challa-borough on Sunday after capsizing and being dashed against the rocky shoreline.
A group of friends from Plymouth had set off in their kayaks from Bigbury on Sea buttheir fun day on the water turned into a nightmare as they rounded the point into Challaborough Bay.
The current caught them on the way round and two of their group capsized. One was washed into the rocks, but luckily he was spotted by another of the group who was walking along the coast path.
She alerted two bass fishermen and the rescue began as the other kayakers were wavingfor help. A holidaymaker alerted Steve Chapman who, for the second time in two months, called the coastguard from his landline as there is no mobile signal at Challaborough.
