Friday, May 25, was a tragic day for Ireland, a country I’ve aways known as friendly and welcoming.

Unfortunately, for the first time ever, the people have decided democratically to remove the 8th amendment, thereby opening the way for the introduction of abortion and thus depriving the basic human right to life from an entire section of the population.

Another victory for so-called liberalism disguised as feminism. It is doubly sad that 35 per cent of those eligible to vote failed to do so. It would be no surprise to hear a demand for euthanasia in the near future in order to cleanse the country of those deemed unworthy to continue accessing state benefits, who are a drag on a country’s progress. We can see the dreadful consequences of this policy in Belgium and Holland.

We surely need to ask ourselves what has gone wrong with our society. How can we ignore nearly 200,000 deaths from abortion in the UK year on year? We are rapidly approaching the point where we are not replacing our population, a point already reached in Russia, Italy and Spain.

The demographic consequences are alarming – lots of elderly folks needing state support paid by the taxes contributed by the diminishing number of youngsters in employment. We can only hope that we all come to our senses in time. A lot of common sense and compassion are required.
