OVER the last few months, 6th Kingsbridge Cub Scouts have been working hard to achieve a special ’community impact’ badge.

Nikki Curzon, Kingsbridge Cub Scout leader explained: ‘This award encourages young people to think about social issues in communities and make their own decisions about how to go about improving the situation.’

The cubs chose to support a range of projects promoting ’clean water for all’.

Among a range of activities, they undertook a beach clean at West Charleton marshes - finding enough rubbish in just one afternoon to fill over a dozen refuse sacks.

They also held a sponsored silence in aid of Widows and Orphans in Rural Kenya.

Mary-Jane Butler and Father Toffolo, from WORK, inspired the cubs to raise an amazing £350.

This money will be spent on building a water tower at a health clinic in Kenya that currently has no running water.

‘Many thanks to everyone who has helped and supported the cubs during their work towards this badge,’ said Nikki.
