Yarmer Beach and Leas Foot cleaned by South Hams Society

By Chris Derrick in Environment

THE South Hams Society organised their final beach-clean of the year at Yarmer Beach and Leas Foot near Thurlestone last weekend.

A spokesperson for the society said: ‘No doubt due to the proximity to Christmas, the beach-clean was poorly attended with only two ‘stalwarts’ turning out.

‘The last rays of sun made the beach an idyllic place to be and the work was no hardship.

‘The two volunteers were later rewarded with tea and flapjacks in the clubhouse, kindly provided by Thurlestone Golf Club.’

On Sunday, January 1, the society will be organising their annual New Year’s Day walk from Overbeck’s to East Soar Farm and back, meeting at 11.30am in the lower National Trust car park at Overbeck’s.
